The Lakota people have a phrase "Mi Takuye Oyacin"--with all beings and all things we shall be as relatives or abbreviated as "all my relatives". These are some of my relatives I've met along the trail which winds back to June 1966 when I first picked up a camera and wandered the waterfront of San Francisco with this magical, light-catcher of a black box around my neck. It has held onto the moments of triumph and the periods of grief and all the mundane in between. Without that light we would have no way to erase the darkness and without the darkness we would have no way to measure the light. I suppose this is why I'm a photojournalist.
